Problem: Why don't links work in Gmail?

Details: You sign in and pick up email through GMAIL on the Browser. When your mouse hovers over a link it shows the pointing finger - i.e. the Browser knows it is a link. However, if you click on the link - not only does the Browser not load the page, it gets so stuck you must load 2 pages back.

You are right, the links in Gmail do not work.
There is a bug tracking of this issue at http://dev.laptop.org/ticket/8286
One work-around is to use 'Control C and Control V' of the URL into a Browse top line.
