To test whether "a equals 1"?

We CANNOT type a=1 .
We must type a \mathop = \limits^? 1 . (see Screencast 1)
 1. Type a, then click on right of °
 2. Select \mathop = \limits^? from menu and then type 1.

Note:
Advanced commands do NOT work well in 3.0. The conditions are erased every time you touch the variable, so you must CHECK EVERY TIME that they are there. This is a REAL PAIN.
There is no solution in 3.0.  In 3.2, the conditions work well.
